"Brother, you're going to re-taaruf next semester, you too, and you," sayyid was pointing at me and a couple of guys around me speaking in his sudanese english.
"Re-taaruf?"
"Yes, re-taaruf. You were sleeping during the talk so you're going to re-taaruf next semester,"
"Its simple, we're going to take your name and give it to the senate and you're going to re-taaruf next semester,"
My heart was thrumbling. Malas siot nak ngulang taaruf week lagi. Betol ke ni kene?
"We're going to re-taaruf just because we slept during the talk?!"
"Yes, because you were sleeping like this (mocking the way student used to sleep during talks - tersenggut-senggut)" laughter broke around the area...
Huh. Bleh die main-main time aku tengah ngantuk giler mase tuh. Dah ler tercipta sejarah 1st time aku tido mase tgh talk. Memang tak pernah tido sebelum ni dalam talks ke lectures ke, sejak skolah rendah lagi. Tapi hari tu memang aku tak tahan sungguh. Bleh kantoi lak ngan bro sayyid.
Everything seemed to be bored, dull in the taaruf week. Bese la, talks, sape suke? Talks da mmg kene dengo, tambah plak kene dok kat masjid, buat macam rumah sendiri, tak bleh balik bilik 2 hari. Tak mandi 2 hari. Tahan bau badan sendiri mahupun yang lain 2 hari. Tido 2 hari 5 jam jek. Kaki dah rase macam nak tercabut jalan banyak ulang alik gi venues. Beselah.. No matter how worse you face, u'll remember it, even remember it as sweet memories.
Some talks yang sronok didengar, MC comel-comel, comite-coimte discipline n ibadah from sudan yang sempoi (sronok borak ngan die org.. sampai leaps taaruf pun kalo jumpe tengah jalan borak gak sket-sket), sape bleh lupe quote 'two lines, two lines', 'please brother', 'brother! brohter!', 'please dont do like this, brother'? Hahah! Integration yang aku tak pernah jumpe sebelum ni, integration between malays, chinese, indians, africans dalam cultural night, syabas bebudak engine wat comedy best combining all races! Tak lupe aku ketawe giler-giler nye nengok show bebudak course lain, sampai menangis-nangis ketawe malam tu. Isk232.
Yang kurang bestnye, kolej. Aku dapat mahalah faroq. Mahalah yang kurang facilities. Aku pun tatau knape. Laundry takde, water cooler kurang, apetah lagi landscape mmg takde. Worse, cafe pun takde. Naseb baik mahalah ni sebelah mahalah siddiq yang cam best, ade landscape cantek, cafe ade byk gerai, ade washing machine, nak gi kuliyah pun lagi dekat.
Bilik yang aku dapat plak, tak dapat nak aku citekan cemane kotornye. Isk232. Siap ade komponen-komponen motorsikal bawah katil. Spare part besepah dalam compartment. Habuk, sawang, toksah citer. Saket gak arh nak mengemas balik bilik tuh. Mujur roomates ok, sebilik ngan acap brunei, wan welfare taaruf week, final year, ngan zaki dak 2rd year.
Classes? Baru pegi 2 kelas hari ni, the Islamic world view ngan programming. Frankly memang aku rase lain blaja kat sini kalo nak dibandingkan dengan kat matric, sini semenye sendiri. Kadang-kadang pikir, takut gak nak blajo, ngeri aku nengok name-name subjek, bleh ke aku bawak? Lebih mengerikan, stakat ni aku nampak kat sini lebih mementingkan course work, bukan final sem. Macam programming, final 20% je, yang lelain course work. Hohoho!
But as the dean of my kuliyah, dr ahmad fariz said, "Here, you have to CHALLENGE the professors, ask them questions and problems until they cried!". For me, what's behind the words is that we have to be advance, to understand things 1st before the lecturers even teach it. Macam pesan ustaz mazli, "Sebelum lecturer ajar, kite kene bace dulu apa yang lecturer nak ajar. Kalo semester depan dah tau nak amek subjek math, hujung semester ni dah mintak course outline dari senior, mase cuti sem kite study, semester baru kite dah ready. Bile kite dah sedie, mase lecturer ajar, kite dah paham, kite boleh tanye terus lecturer ape-ape kite tak paham. Lecturer sayangkan kita. Bila lecturer sayangkan kita, insyaAllah ilmu yang tuntut diberkati".
