My Name Is Earl

You know the kind of guy who does nothing but bad things and wonders why his life is suck? Well thats me! Everytime I do bad things, something bad will always wait around the corner. Thats when I realize I have to do something. So I list up all the bad things I have done and try to make it up so my life is better. I'm just trying to be a better person. My name is Earl

That was the Earl's saying during the opening sequence of the series 'My Name Is Earl'. A TV series that tells us a story of a guy that has listed down hundreds of bad things he had done and try to make all the bad things up. He believes that if he do good things - to apologize and make the bad things up, good things will happen to him. He tries to be a better person.

The items in Earl's list shown during the opening sequence read as follows:
56: Stole Liquor from Liquor store
57: Told Joy Dan D(writing illegible) messed himself on the (rest cut out of frame)
58: Fixed a high school football game
59: Everything I did to Dad
60: Pulled fire alarm
61: Stole Mom's car (but I gave it back)
62: Faked death to break up with a girl
63: Wasted electricity
64: Spray Painted The bridge
65: Cost Dad the election
66: Let mice out at school play
67: Stole beer from a golfer
68: Blew up mailboxes
69: Cheated on School tests a lot

It made me thinking, why a guy like this dare to do everything just to make them up. Everything, he dares to do everything to make sure his victim forgive him! It is just not about apologizing. It is about to do good things.

The 18th hadith in Imam Nawawi's collection of Forty Hadith tells us that 'Fear Allah wheresoever, and do good things over bad things, and do good deeds naturally'. The syarah over the hadith tells that even if people done bad things to you, you should response in hikmah by doing good things back to them. And if you have done bad things, you should do good things more and more.

I'm just trying to be a better person.

Nothing much I need to say of what I gain from this program. Only one word can describe, 'togetherness'.
